Alexander Siegenfeld

Alexander was a postdoctoral researcher at the New England Complex Systems Institute. He received a PhD in physics (2022) and a B.S. in mathematics and physics (2015) from MIT. His research focused on applying concepts and methods from statistical physics to further the understanding of social phenomena, including instability in democratic elections, macroeconomic development, and the interactions between social and biological systems that can cause and stop the spread of disease. He has conducted research on geographic political polarization and multilevel governance with the MIT Center for Constructive Communication. He also interned at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, bringing a complex systems perspective to bear on problems in global health and development.
