Blake Borgeson

Blake was formerly an internet and biotech entrepreneur and a Nature-published computational biologist, and is now a donor and strategist in AI safety and serves on MIRI's board of directors. Blake previously co-founded BuildASign.com, which has revenues today in the $100Ms, then earned a PhD applying ML to biological problems at UT Austin. He then co-founded Recursion Pharmaceuticals, where he still serves on the board. Recursion applies ML to its millions of in-house automated cellular experiments to understand diseases and discover treatments. Recursion has raised around $900M from public and private investors since its 2013 founding, going to the public markets with its IPO in April 2021. In 2018, Blake shifted his efforts from biotech into AI safety and other efforts to mitigate existential risks and create a vibrant future for humanity.
