Shamil Chandaria

Dr. Shamil Chandaria OBE is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, technologist, and researcher whose work spans artificial intelligence, computational neuroscience, philosophy, and human flourishing. He studied Natural Sciences and Economics at the University of Cambridge, earned a PhD from the London School of Economics, and completed an MA in Philosophy at University College London.

He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Eudaimonia and Human Flourishing at the University of Oxford and an advisor at Google DeepMind, and was previously a visiting academic at the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford. In 2018 he helped endow the Global Priorities Institute at Oxford University, and in 2019 he co-founded the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London, the world's first research centre dedicated to psychedelic science. He was awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to science, technology, and philanthropy.
